Abstract

The main subject of this paper is the PHCC questionnaire thatmeasures test anxiety. To our knowledge, not many systematicempirical research exists addressing the characteristics of thisscale. The research was conducted on two samples of studentsat the University of Novi Sad, with the main aim to present aSerbian adaptation of the questionnaire, and to examine itsfactor structure and psychometric properties. Factor analyses, both EFA and CFA, showed that the scale has a uniquesubject of measurement - anxiety towards the test situation, with two components; cognitive and physiological, that are inaccordance with previous theories and research on anxiety.Testing for configural and metric invariance showed that tenindicators measure the same two factors in similar ways forstudents in both samples. External validity of the scale hasalso been proved; test anxiety scores obtained with this scalesignificantly and meaningfully correlated with similar constructs. In addition to good psychometric properties, the shortness ofthe scale and items formulations make PHCC suitable for usein both clinical and research settings. Finally, limitations of thestudy were discussed, as well as recommendations for futureresearch.
