The study also examines the mediation effect of locus of control, duration of unemployment and demographic variables on the active job search. The sample consisted of 213 unemployed subjects. Approximately a half of them has attended seminars organized by the Employment Bureau. Questionnaires measuring factors of active job search and locus of control were administered to the subjects. The results show that the subjects who have attended the seminars look for a job more actively, and also that they are more ready to get hired. Subjects who have been waiting for a job for a shorter time and have a university degree look for a job more actively than others. The subjects from 18 to 26 years of age are the most eager to get employed. In general, attending seminars has a positive effect on the unemployed subjects engaging in looking for a job.</span><br /> ER -
